The supermarkets in Britain alone hand out roughly seventeen billion carrier bags each year. Over 250 per person! This is an alarming amount when you consider that at least half of those bags are now sat in a landfill somewhere decomposing at an extraordinarily slow rate. There is more waste from carrier bags than the world can handle and the new reusable shopping bag really can change everything. These new bags are now sold at most major supermarkets and local shops for a small fee and can be used in any shop. They are much more durable than standard shopping bags and are proving to be much more cost effective long term.
Although these shopping bags started out as some what of a practicality, it seems that now they are becoming more widespread and the only issue is what colour to buy! There really is a lot of choice available when it comes to design, style and colour and more and more are being made every day. It is becoming more like a fashion statement than a shopping aid to have one of these bags and if so – why not?! If helping towards a better future is more of a luxury than a chore then we can't think of anything better!
